The average cost for a firepit project in the United States is $850. This includes a range of $300 to $1,400 at the low and $5,000 to $10,000 at the high end. According to Jepsen, these projects start at around $1,000. The backyard renovation cost does not include laying pavers around the firepit or the preparation work needed to create an appealing outdoor space.
Jepsen says that while building a firepit by yourself is possible, it’s better to hire a professional. However, when it comes time to lay a tile floor or pave around it, it is best to hire a contractor to ensure that the foundational work is done correctly.
Jepsen estimates that a backyard renovation will cost around $2,000 if you hire a professional to do some of the work.
Outdoor Kitchen Cost

Russell Lee, the owner of Texas-based Lee Brothers Construction, says that many homeowners desire an outdoor space to show off their homes and entertain their guests.
Lee says an outdoor kitchen typically includes cabinets with granite or concrete countertops, a grill, a sink, and an outdoor fridge. An outdoor kitchen can be purchased starting at $7,500 and going up to $15,000, depending on your chosen appliances. You can expect luxury outdoor kitchens to cost anywhere from $65,000 to $100,000, depending on their size.
Lee suggests connecting your outdoor kitchen to your home to save money on electricity, gas, and water. A canopy that does not cover the outdoor kitchen will help reduce costs.
Cost of Landscaping
DelMonico says that creating an outdoor oasis should at least include making landscaping visually appealing. Prices and details for landscaping vary depending on the project’s scope and the yard’s size and complexity. DelMonico claims you can still buy grass seed and plants for as low as $1,000 to $5,000.
Your landscaping project can include trimming trees and planting plants, costing between $5,000 and $15,000. If you add hardscaping, the price can go from $15,000 to $50,000.
Although it may sound expensive, landscaping can be a worthwhile investment. DelMonico says that landscaping upgrades can yield an 83% return making them a wise investment.
